There are currently around 125,000 people working across Hull, with jobs growth increasing by 4.2% between 2016 and 2017. This level of growth was much higher compared to the 1.6% regional rate and 1.3% national rate of growth for the same period. Almost 17% of jobs in the city are in the manufacturing industry, with health, retail and education also being important employers.
The city's Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI) reached a total of £3,479 million in 2016, up from £3,388 million in 2015. This equates to £13,380 per person, a lower figure than the regional rate of £16,365 for each individual.
