Newry not only offers good business investment opportunities in the present, there are also big plans to drive future growth in its economy. The city's economic plan sets out a number of goals for 2019, including fueling regeneration projects, attracting new investment, creating more jobs and becoming one of the leading tourist destinations in Ireland.
Indeed, the latter has already proved to be a lucrative sector for the region. In 2015 tourism generated £47.7 million for the economy, and supported around 5,000 jobs. The city's strategy to increase visitors to the area include the aims of becoming one of Northern Ireland's leading adventure destinations, as well as one of its best regions for nest events.
