The city also has a thriving business services sector, with 7,605 companies across a range of subsectors from accounting to recruitment. The sector generates around £1.2 billion in total GVA.
Life sciences has become another of the city's most important industries. Both new and established businesses are based in the city's expanding life sciences cluster, providing over £577 million in GVA and supporting 22,500 jobs. The creative industries also have a strong presence in Plymouth, working across advertising, TV, marketing, publishing and more, contributing £51 million in GVA.
