Top Preston companies by revenue

Preston offers a variety of business opportunities across sectors as diverse as retail, higher education, manufacturing and business services. The city is set to see unprecedented growth thanks to its largest investment in decades, with the local economy predicted to rise by £1 billion in the next 10 years.

Preston is an attractive place to do business in thanks to its comparatively low salaries, commercial properties and hardworking and skilled working population. There are currently around 800,000 working age residents located within 20 miles, and 25% of the entire UK workforce is only one hour away by car. The city has a commitment to welcoming new businesses, whether large multinational firms or SMEs.

In order to provide a helpful overview of the economy of Preston, we've made this list of the city's current top performers. They're all ordered according to their annual revenues, and demonstrate the wide range of sectors that are enjoying success here. See the full results below.

Preston is set to see rapid growth thanks to a City Deal that will provide around £434 million worth of investment. This will mean improvements to local transport facilities, over 15,000 new homes being built, and around 20,000 jobs being created.

A further £100 million from the Lancashire County Pension Fund will also provide new opportunities for businesses in the region, as will the planned £200 million new campus planned for the University of Central Lancashire, located in Preston.

The wider area of Lancashire is home to a £23 billion economy, with over 45,000 businesses providing employment for 620,000 people.
